Neu special election win pushes House Republican majority to 20 seats

Anne Neu will be the newest member of the House of Representatives.

Rep.-elect Anne Neu

Neu, a Republican from North Branch, won Tuesday’s District 32B special election. She garnered 53.22 percent of the 7,119 votes to beat DFL candidate Laurie Werner by nearly 6.5 percent. With the win, Republicans hold a 77-57 seat advantage.

The special election was necessitated when the Supreme Court ruled in September that former Rep. Bob Barrett did not live in the district. Because of the timing, there wasn't enough time to remove Barrett from November's ballot.

A homeschool mother to five children, ages 8-17, Neu previously served on the North Branch Planning Commission.

An office number, committee assignments and swearing-in date have yet to be announced. The district phone number is 651-296-5377.
