Revisor’s bill, filled with technical changes, passed by House

Every year, the office tasked with drafting and publishing legislative and administrative documents, including statutes, laws and rules, suggests changes and corrections – minor tweaks and edits – to the books.

On Thursday, the House passed a 115-page bill, 130-0, that would make those minor tweaks and edits, peppered throughout Minnesota’s governing documents. Sponsored by Rep. Peggy Scott (R-Andover) and Sen. Ron Latz (DFL-St. Louis Park), HF3790/ SF3326*, the 2018 Revisor of Statutes’ bill, now goes to the governor. The Senate passed the bill 66-0 on May 14.

Often packed with spelling and grammar fixes, cross-reference improvements and other technical changes, this year’s bill is one page slimmer than last session’s, which all voting members approved. In 2016, the bill was 300 pages and Rep. Matt Dean (R-Dellwood) was the lone dissenting vote.
