Republican candidate easily wins District 27B special election
Voters in House District 27B chose their successor to former Rep. Kurt Daudt in a special election Tuesday, electing Bryan Lawrence to fill the seat that opened when the former House speaker resigned Feb. 11 on the eve of the 2024 legislative session.
Rep.-elect Bryan LawrenceLawrence, the Republican nominee, is a farmer, small-business owner and supervisor in Baldwin Township.
He received 84.5% of the 2,073 votes cast to defeat the DFL candidate Brad Brown who received 15.4%.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone for their support at the polls yesterday and all of my dedicated volunteers who helped us in this crazy process!!,” Lawrence wrote on his campaign’s Facebook page. “WE (all of US) won by 84.5%. I am humbled and honored to represent you!!”
District 27B covers portions of Anoka, Sherburne, Mille Lacs and Isanti counties in east-central Minnesota, including the city of Princeton.
A swearing-in date for Lawrence, along with his committee assignments, has not yet been announced.
