Regulating outpatient facilities

The House Health and Human Services Policy Committee approved a bill relating to the regulation of outpatient facilities for surgery and diagnostic imaging and sent it to the House Health and Human Services Finance Committee.

Among provisions of HF2127, sponsored by Rep. Lynda Boudreau (R-Faribault), are requirements for licensure of diagnostic imaging and outpatient surgery facilities, adverse health event reporting by these facilities, and disclosure to patients regarding financial interests in such centers

Boudreau said the bill reflects a concern about unfair competition between hospitals and certain technical centers.

A Senate companion (SF2080), sponsored by Sen. Linda Higgins (DFL-Mpls), awaits committee action.
