Minnesota House Announces Fall Capital Investment Tours

Thursday, July 20, 2023

St. Paul, MN - Ahead of the 2024 Legislative Session, the Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee will embark on a statewide tour this fall, visiting sites and projects for proposed investment in a 2024 Bonding Bill.

The visits will be split between five regional tours, beginning in September and ending in November. The committee last conducted regional tours in the fall of 2021, which laid the groundwork for this year’s $2.6 billion investment in infrastructure and jobs.

“The work of building a better Minnesota never stops. This session, we finally managed to complete the unfinished work of past years, clearing the way to address the new and evolving needs of our state’s infrastructure,” said Rep. Fue Lee (DFL - Minneapolis), Chair of the House Capital Investment Committee. “These tours, which visit districts represented by both Republicans and Democrats, get our members out of the committee room and into the actual communities that will benefit from our work, providing us with the firsthand experience to craft a more impactful bill next year.”

The 2023 regional tours will take place on the following dates:

  • September 13-15: Northwest Minnesota
  • September 26-28: Northeast Minnesota
  • October 10-12: Southwest, Central Minnesota
  • October 24-25: Southeast Minnesota
  • November 14-16: Twin Cities, Suburban Metro

Already, preliminary capital budget requests submitted by state agencies and political subdivisions total nearly $7.4 billion. The specifics of this year’s stops will become available the week prior to each regional tour. The 2021 tour covered 2,369 miles, visited over 80 cities, and heard hundreds of project presentations.
