RELEASE: Saint Paul Delegation Deeply Saddened by Tragic House Fire

Tuesday, January 9, 2024

Saint Paul, MN- The Minnesota House of Representatives Saint Paul delegation issued the following statement on the tragic house fire that claimed the lives of four young children and injured three others

“Our hearts ache for the Vang family during this unimaginable time of grief, and we extend our sincerest condolences to them and the entire community, and anyone impacted by this horrific tragedy. While the cause of the fire remains under investigation, we recognize that such incidents occur with far too much frequency. Every year, across our nation, fires claim the lives and well-being of countless individuals, leaving families shattered and communities in mourning. These are not mere statistics; they represent the loss of our children, parents, neighbors, and friends – the fabric of our very communities. No family should have to endure such a loss.

“In response to the devasting house fire, the Saint Paul delegation is committed to working with community advocates, colleagues, and partners to continue providing unwavering support for our first responders while exploring fire safety policy changes in critical areas like access to smoke alarms, fire safety education, increased sprinkler installations in vulnerable communities, and more. While we honor the lost, let’s commit to building a safer future where such tragedies can be prevented.”
