Koznick to Shine Light on Twin Cities Bussing Inefficiencies ST. PAUL - The Transportation Finance and Policy Committee will convene tomorrow to hear a report regarding bussing inefficiencies, titled the High Subsidy Transit Routes Report. “As GOP Chair, I have had a chance to preview the report and the egregious waste of public funds occurring on certain high subsidy routes. I welcome the findings of the report, and I am committed to ensuring that Minnesotans throughout the suburbs and metro have access to bus routes that get people to where they actually want to go, on routes that they use, and with efficient use of taxpayer dollars. We cannot continue to operate in an inefficient manner with some routes having subsidies as high as $200 per ride! That is just abusing and wasting taxpayer resources. This is an issue that has been on my radar, and today's report demands change in how we deliver bus transit in the Twin Cities. I have been reviewing drafted legislation that will streamline the operations and administration of bussing. We will have serious conversions on how to reform this to make it most efficient." A copy of the report is posted on the House Transportation Committee web page. ### |
