No to Canadian-Style Healthcare

This year, Governor Walz has released a plan to overhaul Minnesota's Medicaid systems by eliminating contracts for the eight Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) operating in our state. This would disproportionately impact low-income, disabled, and elderly Minnesotans. By removing MCOs such as HealthPartners, Medica, UCare, etc., from the provider network, the Governor will come one step closer to realizing his ultimate dream: statewide socialized healthcare.

We are all still feeling the financial burden of President Obama's not-so-Affordable Care Act. In his effort to push the industry closer to socialization, Americans have suffered immensely through skyrocketing premiums, and we cannot risk Minnesota implementing a system that continues this trend.

There is a reason that so many Canadians travel to Minnesota and pay out-of-pocket to be seen here, rather than in their home country. In Canada, where everything is "free," patients face a median wait of 28.6 weeks from referral to treatment for health conditions. Imagine needing a critical operation and being told by a government employee that you have to wait half a year before receiving care!

I stand firmly in opposition to Governor Walz's proposal, and will continue to advocate for greater competition among healthcare providers to drive costs back down.

DFL Votes to Keep Males in Female Sports

Preserve Girls' Sports

As you may have seen on the news, the Trump Administration is suing Minnesota for our DFL Trifecta laws that violate Title IX by allowing biological males to compete in female sports under the guise of transgender inclusion.

This is really not complicated: those with XY chromosomes are biological males. Therefore, they have a different anatomical structure and should not be allowed to compete against biological females. End of story.

This week, House Republicans introduced a bill that would codify this position into law, and not a single DFL House member voted in favor of it. I find it hard to wrap my head around how DFL members are so out of touch with public opinion (and biological reality) on this issue.

Please be assured that I will continue to fight for Minnesota's young female athletes to be able to compete against their peers without the threat of being assaulted, injured, or having a victory stolen from them by a biological male opponent.

Removing Minnesota's Nuclear Energy Ban

In 2023, the DFL Trifecta passed SF4, which mandates that all electric utilities in Minnesota must be carbon-free by 2040. Investor-owned utilities, like Xcel Energy, must be 80% carbon-free by 2030. This self-aggrandizing plan, which will do nothing to change the temperature of the Earth, comes at the great cost of higher utility bills for Minnesotans. Likewise, the only way that our state will rationally be able to accomplish enough energy production to meet our projected future needs will be through lifting Minnesota's nuclear moratorium, which the DFL once again blocked in the Energy Committee this year.

Without the capacity to create our own electricity, Minnesota will be forced to rely on neighboring states to fulfill our energy needs. Investing in nuclear will strengthen our economy through jobs and lower utility bills. I will continue to advocate for its legalization, so that we can compete with the rest of the country when it comes to our electrical needs.
