Starting Line: Seeking ways to prevent wolf-livestock conflicts in Greater Minnesota

According to the Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota has the highest population of wolves in the continental United States. With an estimate of nearly 2,300, the range at which wolves live and hunt has progressively extended in northern Minnesota. Because of this, some livestock producers have had issues protecting their livestock from wolf attacks.

Wolves are federally protected, so non-lethal methods can only be used for preventing wolf-livestock encounters. Rep. John Poston (R-Lake Shore) sponsors HF2277 which aims to prevent wolf-livestock conflicts.
