Administrative Assistant - House Public Information Services (Temporary Position)


Full-time temporary positions are available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as administrative assistants for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. Candidates with part-time availability may be considered.

This is a front desk, customer service position with duties that include: answering phone calls, responding to in-person inquiries, processing and uploading video files, providing quality assurance and proofing of department content, and providing other department support services during the 2025 legislative session. Must have strong public relations skills, excellent phone manners, an ability to do a variety of office tasks, and a willingness to take direction and requests from other staff. Accuracy and attention to detail are critical. Some irregular hours may be required.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing, database and spreadsheet software is required. Must have a demonstrated ability to adapt to changing technology and systems. Journalism and/or social media experience is a plus. The ability to lift 40 pounds for purposes of publication delivery and inventory management is required. An understanding of state government and the legislative process is helpful.

This is an hourly, at-will position that works in person. Benefits include earned sick and safe time, paid holidays based on hours worked, and earned non-exempt overtime. Starting classification and hourly rate commensurate with relevant experience. Administrative Assistant hourly range is $25.54-$45.96 per hour commensurate with experience. The starting salary range for an entry-level Administrative Assistant is generally between $25.54 and $28.09 per hour, depending on relevant experience.

These positions are anticipated to begin in early January and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.
