Currently serving his second, non-consecutive term, Hancock said in a news release he is stepping away from the House when his term concludes in January to spend more time with his wife, family and friends.
“It has truly been an honor and a privilege,” he said. “The experiences shared and the friendships made are highly treasured.”
First elected to the House in 2010, the small-business owner was named vice-chair of the House Veterans Affairs Division last year, and also serves on the House Environment and Natural Resources Policy and Finance and Greater Minnesota Economic and Workforce Development Policy committees.
Hancock joins seven other members who have officially announced they will not seek re-election to the House in the fall. Four other members have said they intend to seek Senate seats.
