WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES

Representative Liz Olson, Chair of the Committee on Ways and Means, called the meeting to order at 9:03 A.M. on, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Vice Chair Edelson moved that the minutes of April 29, 2024, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF5245 (Becker-Finn) Judiciary Supplemental Budget Bill

Chair Olson moved HF 5245 before the committee.

Representative Frazier presented HF 5245.

Following discussion Chair Olson temporarily laid over HF 5245.

HF5216 (Moller) Public Safety Supplemental Budget Bill

Representative Moller moved that HF 5216 be placed on the General Register.

Representaitve Moller presented HF 5216.

Representative Moller moved the A8 amendment to HF 5216.

Representative Moller presented the A8 amendment to HF 5216.

Representative offered an oral amendment to the H5216A8 amendment as follows:
Page 1, line 9, after the period, insert “Section 645.241 does not apply to violations of this section”
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS INCORPORATED.

Representative Moller renewed the motion to adopt the A8 amendment, as amended, to HF 5216. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT, AS AMENDED, WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Moller presented HF 5216 as amended.

Representative Moller moved that the language contained in HF 5245 be incorporated into HF 5216, the Judiciary and Public Safety Supplemental Budget Bill, as separate articles. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Moller moved that the language contained in HF 5216, as amended, be incorporated into HF 5216, the Public Safety and Judiciary Supplemental Budget Bill, as separate articles. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Moller renewed the motion that HF 5216, as amended, be placed on the General Register, and that nonpartisan staff be directed to make any technical corrections and amend the title. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF5299 (Pelowski) Higher Education Supplemental Budget Bill

Representative Pelowski moved that HF 5299 be placed on the General Register.

Representative Pelowski presented HF 5299.

Representative Pelowski renewed the motion that HF 5299 be placed on the General Register, and that nonpartisan staff be directed to make any necessary technical changes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting adjourned at 10:02 A.M.
