Minneapolis Delegation Statement on Announced End to Operation Metro Surge

Thursday, February 12, 2026

St. Paul, MN –  Today, Tom Homan announced the end of Operation Metro Surge which was later verified by Governor Tim Walz. The Minneapolis Delegation in the Minnesota House of Representatives released the following statement:

"This long overdue announcement is a welcome potential first step in achieving justice for our city and residents. That said, we will not feel relief or let up in our vigilance until every last DHS/ICE agent associated with this surge has left. The Trump Administration has repeatedly lied to our faces and Tom Holman’s statements made clear that they do not plan on letting up on their brutal and lawless anti-immigrant campaign. Only after their departure is confirmed and unconstitutional actions have ended will we take a moment to rest.

“We are deeply proud of the city we are sworn to represent. This is a victory won by the average Minneapolitan who stood against tyranny with whistle in hand and community by their side. To our beloved Minneapolis residents; you have shown the world the power of peaceful resistance and unity in love for our neighbors. Yet, our collective action isn’t over. We must continue to patrol, donate to mutual aid, and share what we’ve learned to whichever community the Trump regime decides to terrorize next.

“We will work with other elected officials to guarantee the timely withdrawal of the DHS/ICE occupation and that the safety of our immigrant neighbors is not sold off to purchase this withdrawal. Lastly, we will continue to draft and pass legislation that strengthens our position against future Trump invasions and clears a path for justice for Renee Good, Alex Pretti, and all Minneapolis residents who were harmed by this destructive reign of authoritarian terror. ICE out now and forever, so no community has to endure what we’ve experienced in Minnesota.

The Minneapolis Delegation for the 2025-2026 biennium in the House includes Rep. Michael Howard (51A), Rep. Fue Lee (59A), Rep. Esther Agbaje (59B), Rep. Sydney Jordan (60A), Rep. Mohamud Noor (60B), Rep. Katie Jones (61A), Rep. Jamie Long (61B), Rep. Aisha Gomez (62A), Rep. Anquam Mahamoud (62B), Rep. Samantha Sencer-Mura (63A), and Rep. Emma Greenman (63B).
