St. Paul, MN - Continuing what has become an annual legislative tradition, on Monday, March 2, State Representative Samakab Hussein (DFL - St. Paul) hosted the 11th Annual Legislative Iftar Dinner. The bipartisan event was put on in partnership with the Minnesota National Guard and State Representative Dave Baker (R - Willmar).
“From all walks of life, and in times of great turmoil, my legislative colleagues can continue to see the Iftar as a unifying event,” said Rep. Hussein. “We can leave politics outside the door, and share an evening grounded in humility, charity, and caring for our neighbors. It reminds us to lift up those in need and strengthen our character, providing a strong foundation for our work together this session.”
The Iftar is an evening of reflection, community, and cultural exchange as attendees gather to break the fast together during the holy month of Ramadan. This event brings together community members, Imams, Pastors, Rabbis, civic leaders, policymakers, diplomats, and members of the military community to foster unity, deepen cultural understanding, and strengthen relationships across communities.
