St. Paul, MN - Today, the Minnesota House of Representatives unanimously passed Senate File 4127, a bill containing numerous policy changes concerning tenant-landlord relations. During debate on the House Floor, Rep. Samakab Hussein (DFL - St. Paul) successfully proposed an amendment to the bill, adding his legislation that would prohibit landlords from listing minors on eviction filings.
“It’s hard enough for our younger generations to afford a home, and we certainly shouldn’t be making that more difficult just because their family previously faced housing insecurity,” said Rep. Hussein. “Removing this barrier for our youth is the type of bipartisan compromise Minnesotans expect from us this session, and it's time we passed it into law.”
The amendment was added to the bill on a voice vote. The bill, as amended, returns to the Minnesota Senate. Video of today’s floor debate can be found on the House Public Information YouTube channel.
