Rep. Cal Warwas Statement on Minnesota Supreme Court Ruling in Powerlifting Case 

Saint Paul, MN – Representative Cal Warwas, R-Clinton Township, issued the following statement reacting to this morning’s Minnesota Supreme Court decision: 

"Today’s Supreme Court decision is a step in the wrong direction and will have real consequences for female athletes across Minnesota. Title IX is about safety, fairness, and preserving a level playing field in women’s sports. I remain committed to addressing this in the upcoming legislative session, standing proudly to promote HF12 alongside Representative Natalie Zeleznikar and the entire Republican caucus. We must ensure that our state policies reflect genuine support for girls and women in athletics." 

Both?House File 12?and?House File 1233?would have clarified the issue at hand; however, these bills were voted down on party line votes. Both bills remain “on the table” and ready for action when the House reconvenes on February 17, 2026.
