Rep. Knudsen Comments on MMB's November Forecast St. Paul, MN — Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) released its November budget forecast today, giving Minnesotans a clearer view of the state’s fiscal situation. The numbers show that spending is still growing faster than revenue, and the structural imbalance is getting worse. Additionally, the projected deficit in the coming years is now three times higher than what was expected at the end of the 2025 session. Rep. Knudsen issued the following statement in response: “Years of Democrat control and irresponsible budgeting have pushed our state into this position. Their reckless spending is catching up with Minnesota, and taxpayers are the ones paying the price. Last session, Republicans managed to prevent the deficit from growing even larger, but this forecast shows the immense gravity of the situation. We need to start cutting spending and we need to confront the fraud that has exploded under the Walz administration. Hardworking Minnesotans are the real victims of this mismanagement and corruption. Families cannot continue to manage rising costs while state government refuses to control its own budget. It is time to act and bring the state back to stable footing.” |
