MINUTES


Representative Tim Wilkin, Chairman of the Commerce and Financial Institutions Committee, called the fifteenth meeting to order at 12:35 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2005, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Rep. Atkins moved that the minutes from the meeting of March 8, 2005, be approved.

The motion prevailed.


HF944 (Emmer) Employment-related boards meeting conduct by telephone or other electronic means authorized.

Rep. Wilkin moved that HF944 be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register.

Rep. Wilkin renewed his motion that HF944 be recommended to pass and be sent to the General Register. The motion prevailed.


HF1356 (Kohls) Corporate research tax credit computation increased.

Rep. Kohls moved that the division report for HF1356 be adopted and the bill be placed before the full committee. The motion prevailed.

Rep. Kohls moved that HF1356 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Taxes Committee.

The following four members voted against the motion:

GOODWIN, LIEBLING, RUKAVINA, SAILER.

The following members were absent:

CLARK, HOWES, JAROS, SERTICH, SEVERSON, SIMPSON.

The motion prevailed (16-4).


HF1127 (Brod) Biotechnology and health sciences industry zone tax credit amount increased.

Rep. Wilkin moved that the division report for HF1127 be adopted and the bill be placed before the full committee. The motion prevailed.

Rep. Wilkin moved that HF1127 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Taxes Committee.

Rep. Brod presented HF1127.

Rep. Wilkin renewed his motion that HF1127 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Taxes Committee. The motion prevailed.


HF1357 (Peppin) Corporate research tax credit increased, and money appropriated for the biotechnology credit.

Rep. Wilkin moved that the division report for HF1357 be adopted and the bill be placed before the full committee. The motion prevailed.

Rep. Peppin moved that HF1357 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Taxes Committee.

Rep. Peppin presented HF1357.

HF1002 (Gazelka) Tourism marketing funding provided, and money appropriated.

Rep. Howes moved that the division report for HF1002 be adopted and the bill be placed before the full committee. The motion prevailed.

Rep. Gazelka moved that HF1002 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Jobs and Economic Opportunity Policy and Finance Committee.

Rep. Gazelka presented HF1002.

HF1318 (Atkins) Electronic mail messages regulated, and criminal penalties prescribed for false and deceptive commercial messages.

Rep. Atkins moved that HF1318 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Civil Law Committee.

Rep. Atkins presented HF1318.

Rep. Atkins renewed his motion that HF1318 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Civil Law Committee. The motion prevailed.


The meeting adjourned at 2.15 p.m.
