MINUTES


Representative Buesgens, Chair of the Education Policy and Reform Committee, called the twenty-seventh meeting to order at 8:17AM on Thursday, March 9, 2006, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Rep. Cybart moved approval of the March 2, 2006 minutes. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

HF1273 (Demmer): Teacher contract negotiation during school year prohibited and January 15 contract settlement penalty repealed.

Rep. Demmer moved that HF1273 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

Rep. Demmer moved the A06-1152 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Demmer presented HF1273 as amended.

Rep. Demmer renewed his motion that HF1273 as amended be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

HF3063 (Buesgens): Requirements for a structurally balanced school district budget clarified.

Rep. Buesgens moved that HF3063 be recommended to pass and be placed on the general register.

HF2680 (Erickson): Teacher training program for qualified professionals provided.

Rep. Erickson moved that HF2680 be recommended to pass and be placed on the general register.

Rep. Erickson moved the H2680A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Erickson presented HF 2680 as amended.
