MINUTES


Representative Tim Mahoney, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:05AM on February 7, 2007 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Berns moved that the minutes from February 6, 2007 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Norton assumed the gavel at 10:07AM.

HF 290 (Mahoney), a bill for an act relating to economic development; appropriating money to the commissioner of employment and economic development for University Enterprise Laboratories, Inc.

Representative Mahoney moved that HF 290 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED. Questions and discussion followed.

Representative Mahoney renewed his motion that HF 290, as amended, be recommended to pass and be re-referred the Committee on Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Mahoney assumed the gavel at 10:36AM.

HF 34 (Kahn), a bill for an act relating to health; establishing state policy for stem cell research; providing criminal penalties; appropriating money;

Chair Mahoney moved that HF 34 be reported to the House without recommendation and be re-referred to the Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division.

Chair Mahoney moved amendment A07-0033 (attached). Discussion and questions followed.

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
