MINUTES
Representative Carlos Mariani, Chair of the E-12 Education Committee, called the first meeting to order at 8:09 AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2007, in the Basement Room of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.
Rep. Gottwalt moved the minutes of January 11, 2007. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.
Continued introductions of Members, their districts, their experience with E-12 education in Minnesota, and their goals for the committee.
Overview on the achievement gap in Minnesota and PowerPoint presentations by:
Dr. Dirk Mattson, Director of Research and Assessment, and Dr. Margaret Biggerstaff, Supervisor of Psychometrics, Research & Reporting, Minnesota Department of Education, "Minnesota and the Achievement Gap."
Dr. Jerry Williams, Superintendent, Rochester Public Schools, "Rochester Public Schools."
Ms. Jackie Fraedrich, Program Director for Student Services, Robbinsdale Area Schools, "Robbinsdale Area Schools Achievement Gap."
