HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES STATE OF MINNESOTA
EIGHTY-FIFTH SESSION FOURTH MEETING
HEALTH CARE AND HUMAN SERVICES DIVISION

The fourth meeting began at 12:36 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2007, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. The Chair asked the Division's two permanent pages to introduce themselves (Alicia Luther of Eden Prairie and James Mackey of St. Paul), which they did.
Fiscal Analyst, John Walz, explained the single-page handout "Minnesota Department of Health Governor's Recommended Spending, Includes Direct and Statutory Expenditures."
A quorum present at 12:40, the Chair formally called the meeting to order. The clerk noted the roll. Members present were:

Vice-Chair Hosch moved adoption of the January 18 minutes. The motion prevailed.
Introductory remarks were made by Dianne Mandernach, Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Health with more detailed presentations of the Department's operations by the following:
Margaret Kelly, Assistant Commissioner, (regarding budget structure)
Darcy Miner, Director, Division of Compliance Monitoring
Jim Golden, Director, Division of Health Policy
Scott Leitz, Assistant Commissioner (regarding MERC)
Mark Schoenbaum, Director, Office of Rural Health and Primary Care
Questions and answers followed.
