EIGHTY-FIFTH SESSION THIRTY-FIFTH MEETING

HEALTH CARE AND HUMAN SERVICES FINANCE DIVISION

Chair Huntley called the thirty-fifth meeting to order at 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2007, in Room 10 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present. The clerk noted the roll:

Chair Huntley moved HF 655, the 2nd engrossment, be taken off the table. The motion prevailed. HF 655 now before the Division, Chair Huntley renewed his motion that HF 655 be recommended to pass and returned to the Committee on Finance.

Testifying before the Division was:

Bob Bushman, President, Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association

Discussion followed. Also coming to the table to respond to questions was:

Tom Lehman, representing Minnesotans for Compassionate Care

More discussion occurred and Rep. Liebling moved to amend HF 655 as follows:

page 8, after line 8.4, insert "(v) where the smoke may be inhaled by a minor child" and renumber thereafter, accordingly

The motion prevailed. The oral amendment was adopted.

Discussion continued. Upon no further discussion, Chair Huntley renewed his motion that HF 655, the 2nd engrossment, as amended, be recommended to pass and be returned to the Committee on Finance. Rep. Erickson requested a roll call vote. The motion prevailed on a 7-6 vote as follows:

Nays: Anderson, Brod, Bunn, Dean, Erickson, Gottwalt
Abstain: Hosch
Absent: Abeler, Fritz, Otremba, Peppin, Peterson, Ruud, Slawik

The Chair announced the next Division meeting would be a brief one on Monday, April 2, and adjourned the meeting at 1:50 p.m.
