Representative Mary Murphy, Chair, called the ninth meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present at 8:34 a.m.

Annamarie Hill of Saint Paul, Executive Director for the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council, testified to the budget and functioning of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council

Jim Jones of Bemidji, Cultural Resource Director for the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council, testified to the impact of the Governor’s budget cuts on the work of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council

Ms. Hill answered questions from the committee

Mr. Jones answered questions from the committee

Rogelio Munoz of Saint Paul, Executive Director of the Chicano Latino Affairs Council, testified to the budget and functioning of the Chicano Latino Affairs Council

Mr. Munoz answered questions from the committee

Ilean Her of Saint Paul, Executive Director of the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans, testified to the budget and functioning of the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans

Ms. Her answered questions from the committee

Lester Collins of Saint Paul, Executive Director of the Council on Black Minnesotans, testified to the budget and functioning of the Council on Black Minnesotans

Roger Banks of Saint Paul, Research Analyst for the Council on Black Minnesotans, testified to the goals of the Council on Black Minnesotans

Bill Strusinski of Saint Paul, Government Affairs Consultant for Minnesota Public Television, testified to the budget and functioning of Minnesota Public Television

Mr. Strusinski answered questions from the committee

Barry Tilly of Saint Paul, Lobbyist for the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations, testified to the budget and functioning of the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations

James Gullickson of North Mankato, President of the Association of Minnesota Public Educational Radio Stations, testified to the impact of the Governor’s cuts and unallotment

Mr. Tilly answered questions from the committee

Mr. Gullickson answered questions from the committee
