Representative Mary Murphy, Chair, called the thirty third meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Chair Murphy called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.

Representative Murphy talked about the schedule for the day

Mike Salzwedel of Saint Paul, on behalf of Minnesota Management and Budget, testified to their sales tax estimates

Mr. Salzwedel answered questions from the committee

Kristin Batson of Saint Paul, on behalf of the Department of Administration, testified to the grant policies that the department has put into place

Ms. Batson answered questions from the committee

Commissioner Bob Meier of Saint Paul, on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, testified to their estimate of parks and trails funding

Forrest Boe of Saint Paul, on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, testified to their estimate of parks and trails funding

Mr. Boe answered questions from the committee

Commissioner Meier answered questions from the committee

Stanley Romanstein of Saint Paul, on behalf of the Minnesota Humanities Center, testified to the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund update

Mary Jo McGuire of Saint Paul, on behalf of Learning Law and Democracy, testified to their views on the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund

Courtland Nelson of Saint Paul, on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, testified to the Parks and Trails Fund update

Tom Landwehr of Minneapolis, on behalf of The Nature Conservancy, testified to their vision for the Outdoor Heritage Fund

Mr. Landwehr answered questions from the committee

Commissioner Meier invited the committee to the DNR’s field tours

Representative Murphy announced the next meeting for September 8th at 4:30 p.m.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
