HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES REFORM COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Gottwalt, Chair, of the Health and Human Services Reform Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:31 P.M. on March 9, 2011, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was not present.

HF462 (Norton) Nurse Licensure Compact and appointments provided.

Representative Gottwalt moved that HF462 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services Finance.

The meeting was officially called to order at 2:37 P.M.

Representative Benson moved that the minutes of March 8, 2011 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Testifying on HF462 were Shirley Brekken, MN BOF Nursing (BON), Jo McLaughlin, HealthPartners and Hospitals and Clinics, Deb Haagenson, Vice-President for Nursing at St. Joseph's, Park Rapids, Sharon Prinsen, Mayo Clinic, Karen Brill, Vice-President, Gillette, Mariclaire England, RN, Park Nicollett, Linda Hamilton, President, Minnesota Nurses Association, Cindy Schoenecker, Practice Specialist, Minnesota Nurses Association and Karen McDonald, Health East Care Systems.

Representative Gottwalt renewed his motion that HF462 be recommended to pass.

Representative Quam requested a roll call. The results were as follows:

Voting YEA were Representatives Gottwalt, Mack Barrett, Benson, Franson, Gruenhagen, Huntley, Kiffmeyer, Liebling, Lohmer, McDonald, McElfatrick, Moran, Norton, and Quam.

Voting NAY were Representatives Abeler, Fritz, Hosch, Loeffler, Murphy, and Pederson.

On a vote of 15 AYES and 6 NAYS THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:24 P.M.
