HIGHER EDUCATION POLICY AND FINANCE

MINUTES

Representative Nornes, Chair of the Higher Education Policy and Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:30 PM on January 20, 2011, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

No members were excused.

A quorum was present.

Representative Vogel moved that the minutes from the committee meeting on January 18, 2011 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The committee heard testimony on the University of Minnesota.

Testifying:

Patricia Simmons, Regent

Representative Nornes moved that HF126 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Testifying:

Russ Stanton, Director of Government Relations for Inter-Faculty Organization

Representative Nornes called for a recess at 2:22 PM. The committee reconvened at 5:30 PM.

Representative Atkins moved to table the bill and requested a roll call vote.

The following nine members voted against the motion:

THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL (6-9).

Representative Nornes moved to renew his motion to pass HF126 and be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means. He requested a roll call vote.
