PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIME PREVENTION POLICY AND FINANCE COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the fifty-fourth meeting to order at 10:21 a.m. on Thursday, March 15, 2012, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hilty moved that the minutes of March 14, 2012, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2789 (McDonald) Drug and methamphetamine paraphernalia definitions amended.

Representative McDonald moved that HF2789 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

The committee heard testimony on HF2789.

Representative McDonald renewed his motion that HF2789 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Woodard assumed the gavel at 10:31 a.m.

HF2860 (Cornish) Appropriating money for fire safety services.

Chairman Cornish moved that HF2860 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Ways and Means Committee.

HF1838 (Kriesel) DWI; driving while impaired specified as a breach of peace.

Representative Kriesel moved that HF1838 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

The committee heard testimony on HF1838.

HF718 (Champion) Civil rights restoration and civil rights possible loss notices required, and incarcerated offenders excluded from receiving absentee ballots.

Representative Slocum moved that HF718 be recommended to pass and sent to the General Register.

Representative Slocum moved the H0718A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF718, as amended.
