MINUTES

Representative John Kriesel, Vice Chair of the Veterans Services Division Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:32 p.m. on Monday, January 30, 2012, in the basement hearing room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Kath moved that the minutes of December 19, 2011, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1903 (Urdahl) Honor guard stipends preference modified.

Representative LeMieur moved that HF1903 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee.

The committee heard testimony on HF1903.

Representative LeMieur renewed his motion that HF1903 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the State Government Finance Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1416 (Gruenhagen) Military affairs; nonpublic employee reemployment rights protections extended.

Vice Chairman Kriesel moved that HF1416 pass and be re-referred to the Commerce Committee.

Vice Chairman Kriesel moved the HF1416A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Vice Chairman Kriesel moved to orally amend HF1416: line 1.19 delete "July 1, 2011" and insert "July 1, 2012". THE ORAL AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF1416, as amended.

Vice Chairman Kriesel renewed his motion that HF1416, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Commerce Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1819 (Dettmer) Beyond the Yellow Ribbon program modified.
Representative Dettmer moved that HF1819 pass and be re-referred to the Civil Law Committee.

Representative Dettmer moved the HF1819DE2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

The committee heard testimony on HF1819, as amended.

Representative Dettmer renewed his motion that HF1819, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Civil Law Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1821 (Dettmer) Small business set-aside program changed for veteran-owned small businesses, county set-aside programs authorized for veteran-owned small businesses, and reporting requirements changed.

Representative Dettmer moved that HF1821 be laid over.

Representative Dettmer moved to orally amend HF1821: line 6.9 delete after the second period "The" and insert "At the request of the county board, the". THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

The committee heard testimony on HF1819, as amended.
