MINUTES

Representative Simon, Chair of Committee on Elections, called the meeting to order at 12:30pm on March 5, 2013 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present

Rep. Sanders moved approval of minutes of the February 28, 2013 meeting. The motion prevailed.

HF801 (Sawatzky) Kandiyohi County; process provided for making the offices of county auditor-treasurer and recorder appointive.

Chair Simon moved HF801 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Chair Simon renewed motion that HF919 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. The motion prevailed.

HF920 (Lien) Clay County; process provided to make the county auditor-treasurer and recorder appointive.

Chair Simon moved HF920 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Chair Simon renewed motion that HF920 be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register. The motion prevailed.

HF637 (Halverson) Voter registration provisions modified, election administration procedures modified for individuals who have been convicted of a felony, and money appropriated.

Rep. Halverson moved HF637 be recommended to pass and be referred to committee on Public Safety.

Rep. Halverson makes oral amendment to page 4, line 17 delete "American Bar Association Criminal Justice Section" and replace with "2nd edition of recommendations published by National District Attorney's Association". The motion prevailed.

Rep. Halverson renewed motion that HF637, as amended, be recommended to pass and be referred to committee on Public Safety. The motion prevailed.

HF800 (Nelson) County officer appointment provided for.

Rep. Nelson moved HF800 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.
