MINUTES

Representative Simon, Chair of Committee on Elections, called the meeting to order at 12:30pm February 27, 2014 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

HF2018 (Johnson) Candidate petition filing required.

Rep. Brian Johnson moved that HF2018 be re-referred to the General Register.

Rep. Brian Johnson moved A1 amendment. The motion prevailed.

Testimony heard from:

• Daniel Hoffman, Chisago County resident

Rep. Brian Johnson renewed motion that HF2018, as amended, be re-referred to General Register. The motion prevailed.

Rep. Laine moved approval of minutes of February 25, 2014. The motion prevailed.

HF1408 (Hansen) Soil and water conservation district supervisors require to be elected by supervisor districts in the metropolitan area.

Chair Simon moved HF1408 (Hansen) be re-referred to Environment and Natural Resource Policy.

Chair Simon moved adoption of A1 amendment. The motion prevailed.

Chair Simon renewed motion that HF1408, as amended, be re-referred to Environment and Natural Resource Policy. The motion prevailed.

HF1961 (Halverson) Ethics in government; economic disclosure and conflicts of interest requirements expanded.

Rep. Halverson moved that HF1961 be re-referred to Government Operations.

Rep. Halverson moved adoption of the DE3 amendment. The motion prevailed.

Rep. Sanders assumed Chair at 1:20pm.

• Gary Goldsmith, Executive Director, Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board

Rep. Simon assumed Chair at 1:24pm.

Rep. Halverson renews motion that HF1961, as amended, be re-referred to Government Operations. The motion prevailed.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:02pm.
