MINUTES


Representative Kahn, Chair of the Legacy Committee, called the meeting to order at 2:21 P.M. on February 6, 2013 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was not present.

Sue Gens, Executive Director, MN State Arts Board, gave an overview of the board and its duties as they pertain to the Legacy Amendment.

A quorum was present at 2:24 P.M.

Representative Ward moved that the minutes of February 5, 2013 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Mark Turner, President, Forum of Regional Arts Councils of MN gave an overview of regional arts councils and explained their goals and principles.

Sue Gens explained some of the programs and gave some specific examples of State Arts Board grants and the projects that were completed using Legacy Funds.

Mark Turner explained what the Regional Arts Councils are doing with the funds and gave some examples of projects.

Larry Redmond, Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, gave a quick overview of why the arts are included in the Legacy fund and presented some statistics about arts organizations in the state.

Steve Elliott, Executive Director, Minnesota Historical Society (MHS) gave an overview of how MHS has used Legacy funds and showed a video of their accomplishments.

David Kelliher, Director of Public Policy, MHS, gave an overview of the MHS report, "Minnesota History: Building a Legacy" and explained their Legacy Amendment funding recommendations for FY14-15.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:50 P.M.
