MINUTES

Representative Paymar, Chair of the Committee on Public Safety Finance and Policy, called the meeting to order at 10:16 a.m. Wednesday, March 5th, 2014 in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Rosenthal moved that the minutes of the March 4th, 2014 meeting be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Rosenthal assumed the chair at 10:17 a.m.

H.F. 2144 (Paymar) Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) funds carryover to second year authorized to combat sexual exploitation of youth.

Rep. Paymar moved that H.F. 2144 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Public Safety Omnibus bill.

Testifying on H.F. 2144 were:

Erica Schumacher - Strategic Initiatives & Community Relations Director, Office of the Ramsey County Attorney
Dave Pinto – Assistant Ramsey County Attorney
Neil Melton – Executive Director, Peace Officer and Standards and Training Board

Vice Chair Rosenthal laid over H.F. 2144.

Chair Paymar resumed the chair at 10:29 a.m.

H.F. 2446 (Simonson) Board of Pharmacy cease and desist authority granted to prevent the sale of synthetic drugs, laws governing misbranding or adulterated drugs modified, drug definition expanded, sunset and legislative reporting requirement for the Board of Pharmacy's emergency drug scheduling authority repealed, training and expert support provided in the prosecution of synthetic drug cases, public education plan established, and money appropriated.

Rep. Simonson moved that H.F. 2446 be re-referred to the committee on Health and Human Services Policy.

Testifying on behalf of H.F. 2446 was:

Dr. Cody Wiberg – Executive Director, Minnesota Board of Pharmacy

Rep. Simonson renewed his motion that H.F. 2446 be re-referred to the committee on Health and Human Services Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
