MINUTES

Representative Pat Garofalo, Chair of the Job Growth & Energy Affordability Policy & Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Garofalo called the meeting to order at 5:00 P.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Simonson moved to approve the minutes from the previous hearing. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1837 (Hamilton) Revolving loan fund and Little Africa virtual marketing and branding network funding provided, and money appropriated. The bill was laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Hamilton; Gene Geisein, African Economic Development Solutions; Dr. Bruce Connie, Concordia University; testified on HF1837, as introduced.

HF368 (Hilstrom) Debt buyers regulated. The bill was laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Hilstrom testified on HF368, as introduced.

HF1478 (Garofalo) Metropolitan area sales tax.

Representative Garofalo; Nancy Haas, Counties Transit Improvement Board; testified on HF1478, as introduced.

Representative Garofalo moved to lay HF1478 on the table at 5:19 P.M. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Garofalo moved to resume discussion of HF1478 at 5:37 P.M. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Garofalo moved that HF1478 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Transportation Policy and Finance. Representative Hortman requested a roll call vote. The results were as follows:

Representative Garofalo moved the DE2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Lucero; Rich Szydlowski and Joe Sullivan, Center for Energy and Environment; testified on HF1378, as introduced.

HF1186 (Lueck) Mining companies exempted from electrical licensing. The bill was laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Mahoney moved the DE3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
