MINUTES

Representative Hackbarth, Chair of the Mining and Outdoor Recreation Policy Committee, called the tenth meeting to order at 2:52 P.M. on Wednesday, February 18 2015, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hackbarth called the meeting to order at 2:52 P.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Lucero moved to approve the minutes of February 17, 2015. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0129 Dettmer, Appropriating money for improvements at the Veterans Rest Camp in Big Marine Lake.

Representative Hackbarth moved that bill H.F.129 be re-referred to the Committee on Legacy Funding Finance.

Representative Hackbarth moved the H0129A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Dettmer presented an overview of H.F.129.

The following people testified on H.F.129:

Lori Ahlness, President of the Veterans Rest Camp.
Sheldon Sandmann, Member of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 2.

Representative Hackbarth renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.129, as amended, to the Committee on Legacy Funding Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0571 Dill, Appropriating money for forest road maintenance pilot program.

Representative Dill moved that bill H.F.571 be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy & Finance.

Representative Dill presented an overview of H.F.571 and took questions from committee members.

The following people testified on H.F.571 and took questions from committee members:

Wayne Brandt, Executive Vice President of Minnesota Timber Producers Association.
Forrest Boe, Director of the Division of Forestry for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Representative Dill renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.571 to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy & Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

H.F.0624 Dill, Modifying registration fees for certain snowmobiles; amending Minnesota Statutes 2014; section 84.82, subdivision 2a.

Representative Dill moved that bill H.F.624 be re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy & Finance.

Representative Dill moved to adopt an oral amendment to delete “175” and insert “125” on page 1, lines 9 and 11. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Dill and Doug Franzen, Minnesota United Snowmobilers Association, testified on H.F.624 and took questions from committee members.

Representative Dill renewed the motion to re-refer H.F.624, as amended, to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Policy & Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:37 P.M.
