MINUTES

Representative Cornish, Chair of the Public Safety and Crime Prevention Policy and Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:17 A.M. on March 17, 2015 in Hearing Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Cornish called the meeting to order at 10:17 A.M. A quorum was present.

Representative Ward moved that the minutes from the March 12, 2015 meeting be approved.

THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 1354 (Hackbarth): Firefighter deaths required to be reported to the state fire marshal, and continued health insurance coverage provided to families of noncareer firefighters who die in the line of duty.

Representative Hilstrom moved to pass HF 1354 to be referred to the Government Operations and Election Policy Committee.

Informational hearing on HF 1286 alongside HF 1354 (Gruenhagen): Families of noncareer firefighters who die in the line of duty provided continued health insurance coverage.

HF 1232 (Quam): Data privacy, predatory offender registration, evidence, crime victim protections, and criminal defenses relating to sex trafficking provisions modified; and new criminal penalties created.

Representative Quam moved to pass HF 1232 to be referred to Civil Law and Data Practices Committee.

HF 0031 (Quam): Economic crime victims aided, public outreach initiatives provided, and identity theft passport authorized.

Representative Quam moved to pass HF 0031 to be referred to the Government Operations and Election Policy Committee.

Representative Quam moved the DE1 Amendment.

Informational hearing on HF 1255 (Hertaus): DWI law alcohol concentration standard for enhanced criminal penalties lowered, license plate impoundment to all DWI offenders applied, providing that DWI offenders are not required to take a specified examination as a condition of driver's license reinstatement, DWI ignition interlock program participants not required to obtain limited driver's license as a condition of participating, DWI offenders allowed to pay license reinstatement fees and surcharges in installments, and DWI ignition interlock program specified participants must present a noncancelable insurance certificate as prerequisite to participation.
