MINUTES

Representative Hamilton, Chair of the Agriculture Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:15AM on March 2nd, 2017, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Hamilton gaveled the meeting at 10:15AM. A quorum was not present.

Representative Hamilton called the meeting to order at 10:18AM. A quorum was present.

Dr. Rob Venette, Director, and Heather Koop, Associate Director, gave a presentation on the Minnesota Invasive Terrestrial Plants and Pests Center.

Representative Poston moved to approve the minutes of February 23rd, 2017. THE MINUTES WERE APPROVED.

Representative Hamilton moved HF571 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

HF571 (Swedzinski) Noxious weed grant program funding provided, and money appropriated.

Testifying on HF571 was Cory Bennet, Minnesota Soybean Growers Association, Steve Chapman, The Nature Conservancy, James Calkins, Minnesota Landscape and Nursery Advisory Committee, and Kent Sulem, Minnesota Association of Townships.

HF571 was laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

Representative Anderson moved HF199 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

HF199 (Anderson) Adjacent landowner notification required when noxious week presence is confirmed.

HF199 was laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

Representative Anderson moved HF1442 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

HF1442 (Anderson) Noxious weed program grants to local units of government funding provided, and money appropriated.

HF1442 was laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

Representative Johnson moved HF441 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

HF441 (Johnson, C.) Palmer amaranth and other invasive noxious weed addressment funding provided.

Testifying on HF441 was Whitney Place, Legislative Director, Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

HF441 was laid over for possible inclusion in the Agriculture Finance Omnibus bill.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:19AM.
