STATE GOVERNMENT FINANCE & ELECTIONS COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Michael V. Nelson, Chair of the Committee, called the virtual State Government Finance & Elections Committee meeting to order at 8:31 AM, February 24, 2022 pursuant to House rule 10.01. The meeting was conducted over Zoom and broadcast via House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Klevorn moved that the minutes for February 22, 2022, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Presentation on the Governor’s Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board member appointee, Stephen Swanson.

Jeff Sigurdson, Executive Director, Minnesota Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board, introduced Stephen Swanson.

Chair Nelson moved that Stephen Swanson be appointed to the Governor’s Campaign Finance and Public Disclosure Board.

Representative Hornstein presented HF3035, legislative auditor required to conduct a special review of specified aspects of the Southwest light rail transit project, and money appropriated.

Chair Nelson moved that HF3557 be referred to the General Register.

Representative Marquart presented HF3557, terminating principal campaign committee allowed to donate to school boards.

Chair Nelson moved that HF3557 be laid over for future consideration.

Chair Nelson moved that HF2683 be laid over for possible inclusion.

Representative Drazkowski presented HF2683, individuals required to file a statement of economic interest following their registration as a lobbyist.
