JUDICIARY FINANCE AND CIVIL LAW MINUTES

Representative Jamie Becker-Finn, Chair of the Committee on Judiciary Finance and Civil Law, called the meeting to order at 8:30 AM on January 12, 2023 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Scott moved that the minutes of January 10, 2023, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 4 (Gomez) A bill for an act relating to transportation; modifying requirements for a noncompliant driver's license or Minnesota identification card and making related changes, including on eligibility, proof of lawful presence, primary and secondary documentation, and data practices; making technical changes; appropriating money; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, sections 13.6905, by adding a subdivision; 171.04, subdivision 5; 171.06, subdivision 3, by adding subdivisions; 171.07, subdivisions 1, 3; 171.12, subdivisions 7a, 9, by adding a subdivision; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 171; repealing Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 171.015, subdivision 7.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 4 be recommended to be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Chair Becker-Finn moved the H0004A17 amendment.

Representative Scott moved the H0004A19 amendment to the H0004A17 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 34 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Chair Becker-Finn moved the H0034DE1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 62 be recommended to be re-referred to the Labor and Industry Finance and Policy Committee.

Chair Becker-Finn moved the H0062A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 179 (J. Hanson) A bill for an act relating to civil law; creating a name change process following a final marriage dissolution; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 259.11; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 259.

Chair Becker-Finn moved that HF 179 be recommended to be placed on the General Register.

Representative Hanson presented HF 179.
