EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:33 AM on March 17, 2023, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistance noted the roll.

Representative Jordan moved that the minutes from March 16, 2023, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2320 (Pinto) Children’s cabinet modified; Department of Children, Youth and Families established; responsibilities of Department of Education, Department of Human Services, and Department of Public Safety transferred to the Department of Children, Youth and Families; reports required; rulemaking authorized; and money appropriated.

Representative Pryor moved HF 2320 before the committee.

Representative Pryor moved the A7 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Pinto presented HF 2320 as amended.

HF 2619 (Stephenson) General education basic formula allowance increased, money directed to class size reduction, and money appropriated.

Representative Pryor moved HF 2619 before the committee.

Representative Pryor moved the A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDEMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Stephenson presented HF 2619 as amended.
