HOUSE EDUCATION POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Sydney Jordan, Chair of the Education Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, in Room G23 of the Capitol Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Gottfried moved that the minutes from April 1, 2025 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1306 (Jordan) – Education policy bill.

Chair Jordan moved that HF1306 be re-referred to the General Register.

Chair Jordan moved the DE1 amendment to HF1306. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Bennett offered an oral amendment to the DE1 amendment to HF1306 as follows:
“Page 28, delete section 9.”
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE ORAL AMENDMENT WAS INCORPORATED

Chair Jordan renewed her motion that HF1306, as amended, be re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1124 (Youakim) – School year allowed to start before Labor Day for the 2026-2027 and 2027-2028 school years only.

Chair Jordan moved that HF1124 be re-referred to the General Register.

Chair Jordan moved the A1 amendment to the DE1 amendment to HF1124. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Jordan moved that HF1124, as amended, be re-referred to the General Register.

HF2023 (West) – Overdose prevention education required in substance use model program.

Chair Jordan moved that HF2023 be re-referred to the General Register.

Chair Jordan moved the DE1 amendment to HF2023. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Jordan renewed her motion that HF2023, as amended, be re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting adjourned at 3:07 PM.
