From Sunday’s State of the State address by Gov. Tim Walz, to today’s sixth floor session of the week, it has been a busy and eventful last few days.
All of that time was needed for an agreement to finally be reached on two of this session’s most pressing issues: replenishing the state’s unemployment trust fund to avoid tax increases for businesses, and payments to frontline workers who risked their lives during the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The House Ways and Means Committee was busy turning large omnibus bills into larger ones to better match similar work in the Senate and the full body had a number of long debates as many of those bills were eventually passed off the House Floor.
That work is scheduled to continue Tuesday.
Have a good weekend and here’s a look back at what you may have missed over the last few days.
