Representative Bob Gunther, Chair of the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Committee, called the thirty-third meeting to order at 8:20 a.m., on Thursday, March 23, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

Chair Gunther called Vice Chair Garofalo to the Chair at 8:21 am.


H.F. 984 (Gunther) Youth job skills development statewide program administration grant provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Gunther moved HF 0984 to be before the committee and recommended that HF0984 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Committee Omnibus bill.

Chair Gunther presented HF984.

H.F.1536 (Gazelka) Marriage and marriage dissolution fees adjusted to fund employment opportunities and money appropriated.

Representative Gazelka moved HF 1536 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1536 pass and be re-referred to the committee on Civil Law & Elections.

Representative Gazelka moved to amend HF 1536, page 6, line 35, delete “$70”, insert “$80”, page 7, line 15, delete “$20”, insert “$40”. The motion prevailed and the oral amendment was adopted.

Representative Gazelka presented HF1536.

Representative Gazelka renewed his motion to recommend that HF1536 pass, as amended, and be re-referred to the committee on Civil Law & Elections. The motion prevailed. HF1536 was recommended to pass, as amended, and re-referred to the committee on Civil Law & Elections.


Chair Gunther assumed the Chair at 9:15 am.


H.F. 0524 (Davids) Lanesboro theater and arts center development funding provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Gunther moved HF0524 to be before the committee and recommended HF524 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy and Finance Omnibus bill.

Chair Gunther moves Amendment H0524A2. The motion prevails and Amendment H0524A2 was adopted.

Representative Westerberg moves to amend Amendment H0524A2, line 6, delete “Commonwealth”, insert “Commonweal”, delete “acquire land for,”. The motion prevailed and the oral amendment to Amendment H0524A2 was adopted.

Vice Chair Garofalo moved HF 1507 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1507 pass and be re-referred to the committee on Public Safety Policy and Finance.

Vice Chair Garofalo moved Amendment A05-0346. The motion prevailed and Amendment A05-0346 was adopted.

Vice Chair Garofalo moved Amendment H1507A2. The motion prevailed and Amendment H1507A2 was adopted.


Vice Chair Garofalo moved Amendment H01507A3. The motion prevailed and Amendment H1507A3 was adopted.

Representative Sertich moved HF1569 to be before the committee and recommended that HF1569 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy and Finance Omnibus bill.
