Agriculture Finance & Policy Committee Minutes

Representative Samantha Vang, Chair of the Agriculture Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM on March 14, 2024, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

HF4110 (Hemmingsen-Jaeger) Commercial applicator license core examination materials required to be provided in Spanish.

Chair Vang moved that HF4110 be laid over for possible inclusion in an Agriculture Omnibus bill.

Representative Hemmingsen-Jaeger presented HF4110.

Testifying on HF4110:

• Aaron Smith, Nursery Lead, Huffman & McNamara Nursery and Landscape
• Felipe Illescas, Government Affairs Director, Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association

HF4110 was laid over.

Representative Pursell moved that the minutes from March 12, 2024 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF4625 (Hansen) report on state agency nitrogen fertilizer purchases required and reduction goal established.

Representative Hansen moved that HF4625 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy.

Representative Hansen presented HF4625.

Representative Hansen renewed the motion that HF4625 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources Finance and Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILS.

HF3512 (Hansen) Minnesota State Fair transportation plan required, and money appropriated.

Representative Hansen moved that HF3512 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Transportation Finance and Policy.

Representative Hansen presented HF3512.

Representative Hansen renewed the motion that HF3512 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Transportation Finance and Policy. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
