HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES NINETY-THIRD SESSION

COMMERCE FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn, Vice-Chair of the Commerce Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:01 P.M. on April 17, 2024, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Pfarr moved to approve the minutes for April 9, 2024. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF5295 (Stephenson); Insurance fees assessed by Department of Commerce modified.

Chair Stephenson moved that HF5295 be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Chair Stephenson moved the DE3 amendment.

Chair Stephenson presented HF5295

Chair Stephenson moved the A3 amendment to the DE3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS INCORPORATED.

Representative O’Driscoll moved the A4 amendment to the DE3 amendment.

Representative O’Driscoll withdrew the A4 amendment to the DE3 amendment.

Chair Stephenson renewed the DE3 amendment as amended. THE MOTION PREVAIELD. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Stephenson renewed the motion that HF5295, as amended, be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means. THE MOTIN PREVAILED.

HF5252 (Pfarr); Authorized card games expanded to include game of hasenpfeffer.

Representative Pfarr moves that HF5252 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Pfarr presented HF5252.

Representative Pfarr renewed the motion that HF5252 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill. The motion prevailed.

The meeting was recessed at 1:41 P.M.

This will be the vehicle for the Commerce budget bill. We will take testimony, consider amendments, and vote in one hearing. The DE amendment will be posted on Monday, April 15.
