EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:36 AM on February 29, 2024, in Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Virnig moved that the minutes from February 22nd, 2024, with a technical correction, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Clardy assumed the gavel.

HF 3378 (Youakim) Building Assets, Reducing Risks Center funding provided, and money appropriated.

Chair Youakim moved HF 3378 before the committee.

Chair Youakim presented HF 3378.
Testifiers:

Chair Youakim moved that HF 3378 be laid over for possible inclusion in the final omnibus bill.
Chair Youakim re-assumed the gavel.
HF 3822 (Hill) Process for approving community education adults with disabilities programs modified, and reporting requirements.
Representative Hill moved HF 3822 before the committee.
Representative Hill moved the DE 1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Hill presented HF 3822, as amended.

Chair Youakim moved that HF 3822, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the final omnibus bill.
HF 3398 (Clardy) Intermediate school districts funding provide for special education registered apprenticeship programs, and money appropriated.
Vice Chair Clardy moved HF 3398 before the committee.
Vice Chair Clardy presented HF 3398.

Chair Youakim moved that HF 3398 be laid over for possible inclusion in the final omnibus bill.
HF 3360 (Clardy) Driver education program access expanded for low-income students, driver education work group established, report required, and money appropriated.
Vice Chair Clardy moved HF 3360 before the committee.
Vice Chair Clardy moved the A1 amendment before the committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Vice Chair Clardy presented HF 3360, as amended.
