EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:34 AM on March 6, 2024, in Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Pursell moved that the minutes from March 5th, 2024, with a technical correction, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Vice Chair Clardy assumed the gavel.

HF 4518 (Youakim) Education Finance forecast adjustments made, and money appropriated.

Chair Youakim moved HF 4518 before the committee.

Chair Youakim presented HF 4518.

Chair Youakim moved that HF 4518 be referred to the committee on Ways and Means. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Chair Youakim re-assumed the gavel.

HF 4171 (Jordan) Energy efficiency projects authorized under long-term facilities maintenance revenue program, and maximum effort capital loan program restriction removed.

Representative Jordan moved HF 4171 before the committee.

Representative Jordan presented HF 4171.

• Janey Atchison, Social Studies Teacher, St. Paul Public Schools

Chair Youakim moved that HF 4171 be laid over for possible inclusion in the final omnibus bill.

HF 3558 (Virnig) Roof projects authorized as part of long-term facilities maintenance program, and money appropriated.

Representative Virnig moved HF 3558 before the committee.

Representative Virnig moved the A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Virnig presented HF 3558, as amended.

• Seth Putz, Facilities Director, St. Peter Public School

Chair Youakim moved that HF 3558, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the final omnibus bill.
