EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:33 AM on March 13, 2024, in Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Pursell moved that the minutes from March 12th, 2024, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Presentation on Unemployment Insurance for Hourly School Workers

Chair Youakim moved HF 4453 before the committee.
Chair Youakim moved the DE 2 amendment before the committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Newton presented HF 4453, as amended.

Chair Youakim moved that HF 4453, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the final omnibus bill.
HF 4500 (Clardy) Increase Teachers for Colot Act strengthened, pilot scholarship program for aspiring teachers of color made permanent, special revenue fund account established, and money appropriated.
Vice Chair Clardy moved HF 4500 before the committee.
Vice Chair Clardy presented HF 4500.

Vice Chair Clady moved that HF 4500 be referred to the committee on Higher Education. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
