EDUCATION POLICY MINUTES

Representative Laurie Pryor, Chair of the Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 3:03 PM on February 20, 2024 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Feist moved that the minutes from February 14, 2024, be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2208 (Norris); Academic acceleration pilot program established, report required, and money appropriated.

Representative Frazier moved that HF2208 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Frazier moved the H2208A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Norris presented HF2208 as amended.

Testimony on HF2208 as amended:

Chair Pryor renewed the motion to lay HF2208 as amended over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

The bill as amended was laid over.

HF3363 (Clardy); Hours of instruction requirements modified, definition of credit amended, and money appropriated.

Representative Youakim moved that HF3363 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Representative Clardy presented HF3363.

Chair Pryor renewed the motion to lay HF3363 over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

The bill was laid over.

HF3360 (Clardy); Driver education program access expanded for low-income students, driver education work group established, report required, and money appropriated.

Vice Chair Hill moved that HF3360 be re-referred to the Committee on Education Finance.

Representative Clardy presented HF3360.

Vice Chair Hill renewed the motion to re-refer HF3360 to the Committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
