TAXES COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Aisha Gomez, Chair of the Committee on Taxes, called the meeting to order at 1:03PM on March 12, 2024 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Vice Chair Norris moved that the minutes from March 7, 2024 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3667 (Norris) A bill for an act relating to taxation; individual income; providing a subtraction for certain discharges of indebtedness; excluding certain discharges of indebtedness from income for purposes of the property tax refund and the renter's income tax credit; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 290.0132, by adding a subdivision; Minnesota Statutes 2023 Supplement, sections 290.0693, subdivision 1; 290A.03, subdivision 3.

Vice Chair Norris moved that HF3667 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill.

Vice Chair Norris presented HF3667.

Vice Chair Norris renewed the motion that HF3667 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill. The bill was laid over.

HF3327 (Norris) A bill for an act relating to taxation; individual income; providing a subtraction for foreign service retirement pay; amending Minnesota Statutes 2022, sections 290.0132, by adding a subdivision; 290.091, subdivision 2, as amended.

Vice Chair Norris moved that HF3327 be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill.

Vice Chair Norris moved the H3327A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Vice Chair Norris presented HF3327, as amended.

Testifying on HF3327, as amended:

• Karl Olson, Retired Foreign Service Officer, United States Department of State
Vice Chair Norris renewed the motion that HF3327, as amended, be laid over for possible inclusion in the Taxes Omnibus bill. The bill was laid over.
